Every once in a while the ever-so-fabulous Old Shoe Records throws a show at the Slidebar in Fullerton, CA, and their anniversary party was no different. “Sold out” before the music even started, The Aggrolites drew a very diverse crowd for a night filled with dirty reggae, drinks, and fun!

Release from Old Shoe Records:
“Since the band’s spring release of their fourth studio effort simply titled IV, The Aggrolites have been the ambassadors of their brand of dirty reggae. A potent mix of sweaty soul, base driven funk, and reggae remeniscent of the Kingston legacy of the 1960s, The Slidebar in Fullerton was at capacity with a line out the door to watch the Aggrolites own the stage. With an opening set from Warped tour cohorts LONGWAY, the healthy mix of rude boys, punk rocks, and party people equated to a few circles, followed by an hour of dancing. Aggrolites capped the night with their sing-along rendition of The Beatles “Don’t Let Me Down” that echoed through the building. Drawing members of Reel Big Fish, Chase Long Beach, The Street Dogs, and Civet all out to support, Old Shoe Records turned a free show into an epic party.”
Happy anniversary to Old Shoe Records!! Keep your eyes peeled for more great shows put on by the label by following them on Twitter @OldShoeRecords!
This Halloween we made our way out to the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles to spend the evening with The Bouncing Souls, Bayside, and Broadway Calls. Not many people in the crowd dressed up, but the bands were decked out in great costumes! Broadway Calls kicked off the show with an amazing set while dressed as man-babies; diapers and pacifiers included. Following their set, Bayside came ready to rock out as old men. Approaching their mark on stage slowly but surely, the band’s costumes (and set) were a hit! To see the costumes that the Bouncing Souls wore, you’re going to have to check behind the cut!

I would like to apologize for the lack of updates as of late! I have been swamped with work, but there will be tons of updates coming soon!
After spending last year’s Halloween at the Palladium with Alkaline Trio, Thrice, Rise Against, and The Gaslight Anthem, we decided it was an absolute must to cover a show again this Halloween. Lucky for you, this year we will be featuring the Bouncing Souls’ 20th anniversary tour! In honor of their 20th anniversary, the band has been releasing one track a month throughout 2009. If you’re interested in checking out the music, please visit www.bouncingsouls.com!
Set to be released October 6, Mayday Parade is streaming their album Anywhere But Here on their MySpace. If you like what you hear, be sure to stop by the band’s site to pre-order a copy!
The quintet is currently co-headlining Alternative Press magazine’s Fall Ball with the Academy Is… Other bands on the bill include Set Your Goals, the Secret Handshake, and You Me At Six. To see if the tour will be stopping through a town near you, check out the schedule below!

It was announced today that Chiodos has parted ways with their singer Craig Owens. The second member kicked out this year, Owens offered a lot of energy and talent to the band; it is no doubt Chiodos will not be the same without him. The band let fans know about their decision through a statement in a MySpace blog, which reads as follows:
“To all of our friends, family, and fans: We would like to let you know that we have let Craig Owens go as the singer of Chiodos. This decision was a necessary one. Out of respect for all of the hard work that we have put in together for all of these years we will not be discussing the specific reasons that this needed to happen. We wish Craig well . We will absolutely be continuing on as a band and we will keep you informed as this next chapter unfolds. Chiodos fans are the best fans in the world and all we can ask of you, after everything you have already given us, is to share in our excitement for this next album. We promise you will not be disappointed…………Brad, Jason, Pat, and Matt”
Best of luck to Craig Owens in all his future endeavours!
Since there are so many photos from Warped Tour 2009, I will be updating periodically with posts including only a small number of photos. Here is installment number two!

THE MAINE

THE A.K.A.s

STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO

LESS THAN JAKE
If you follow music, it’s almost a guarantee that you’ve heard of (or even been to) the Vans Warped Tour. One of the biggest festivals each summer, Warped Tour travels the United States (and some of Canada) with a plethora of bands/musicians, nonprofit organizations, and activities for everyone to enjoy! The 2009 Warped Tour was a special one because it marked the fifteenth anniversary of the tour, and included amazing bands such as Bad Religion, Thrice, Less Than Jake, Anti-Flag, Bayside, Alexisonfire, The A.K.A.s, Gallows, Chiodos and more! Warped is a tour that really brings together the fans with the bands so despite the blazing heat, everyone ends up having a great time! I had the pleasure of working with and photographing the tour for about a week, so I will be posting a lot of photos, but here is just a preview (click Read More… for more photos).

As you may or may not know, just last week I was traveling through California to cover some shows. On Tuesday night I found myself in San Jose at the HP Pavilion, photographing one of the biggest (if not the biggest) rock bands of our generation. Green Day is a band that I’ve grown up listening to and the first time I saw them play was almost ten years ago now. The first time I saw them was incredible, and they’ve blown my mind every time since. Green Day has the best live performance I’ve ever seen from a band. Whether it’s
playing a gig for less than 200 people (been there) or playing at a sold out arena or stadium (been there, too), these guys give it their all and make sure the crowd is having just as much fun as they are. And don’t you hate it when you go to see a band you love, but they sound terrible live? Green Day is one of those bands that sounds just as good, if not better than their actual albums, which adds so much to the show. I have seen this band FIFTEEN times and still have just as much fun as the first time I saw them when I was just a kid.
In addition to their show in San Jose, I attended the show last night at the Forum in Los Angeles (well, technically Inglewood). Being the last show of the U.S. leg of the tour, the guys were going to make sure the went out with a bang. As the music started playing, the whole band entered from the back of the arena and walked through the crowd to get up on stage (how many bands as big as Green Day can you say that about?). They had a really amazing set where they played some of their new music, some from American Idiot, and then played old (some really old) music for the rest of the night. Literally TWO-AND-A-HALF hours later, Green Day was playing their “last song” before the encore. It was amazing!!
